Welcome to Westside Ultimate’s Girls/Gx High School Team! We are just thrilled to put together a Girls/Gx team for the first time in memory.  Spring season is a single gendered league, with players that identify as female or non-binary wishing to play on a female identifying team, and that are in 9th-12th grade.  Please see all the details below, and let us know if you have any questions!  Reach us at [email protected]

2022 Westside Girls/Gx Season

Duration: 3/1/22 – 5/15/22

Adults:  Coach Britta Jones and Team Parent Pat Lamphere. Assisting are Head Coach Gene Hsu and Asst. Coach Mick Vaught, and Team Admin Fiona Preedy

Practices: Start on Tuesday, March 1st, and will be on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Practices will move day and times, no earlier than 4pm and ending no later than 8:30pm. The schedule reflects what fields were made available to us and when. Fields are at Sealth, Delridge, and Hiawatha. We will be working on carpools to get players to the fields and games.

Games: Games will be during the week, and scheduled between teams.  Games can be all over the city, so anyone available to drive will be appreciated.  Tools for carpools and organizing will be provided

Competition: This team will register as a JV team with DiscNW.  Our team is still very young, we have three 11th grade girls that are the foundation of the team, with lots of 9th and 10th grade girls/gx .

Experience and Criteria:  No experience in Ultimate is required to join our Girls/Gx team. In fact, because our team is so young, this is the PERFECT time to join and grow your skills.  This season is no-cut. We are welcoming all West Seattle HS and Chief Sealth HS players, and anyone in the attendance area for these two high schools that may be at a private school, charter school (if those schools don’t have their own team) or home schooled,

Gear:  All players should be outfitted with cleats, and wear comfortable work out wear for practices, bringing a white and a dark shirt for scrimmages (no gray please!).  We have some uniforms (in both women’s and unisex sizes) for purchase and some to borrow.  We will make sure that all players have an appropriate Westside uniform kit.  Don’t forget your water bottle!

Fees:  Players must register with DiscNW.  There is a confidential sliding scale for the DiscNW fees, and then there will be waivers to sign.  Westside Ultimate also charges a season fee of $70, which primarily pays for the fields.  Because our priority is that any youth player in West Seattle should be able to play, we confidentially work with players and their families if the fee is a financial burden.

TO REGISTER: Returning players and families – please log into your DiscNW account, and visit the Spring HS Girls/Gx Registration page, to register, pay, and fill out waivers for Westside JV Girls/Gx. New players, if you don’t have a DiscNW account, please have your adult (if you are under 18) set up an account, and add you as a family member. Then you can register at the link above, using the Password TheAccidentalIsland. If you have any problems, email [email protected].

Safety: For Spring 2022, all participants must be fully vaccinated, players and coaches, and proof of vaccination will be requested..  For the foreseeable future, all players will wear a mask when practicing, playing, or on the sidelines.  Removing a mask for a water break or fresh air is allowed, but should be done safely at a distance.  Any spectators for games or practices should watch well away from the teams and wear masks if approaching players or coaches.

Communications:  We send a weekly newsletter to active players and their parents, and anyone else that opts in.  We offer a GroupMe text group for parents and one (or more) for the players.  We have a website – westsideultimate.org and a Facebook page.  Our main email is [email protected], and each coach/admin will let you know if they will offer another way to contact them.
